NAS – Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and {that} they might be taken away.
NA26 – Οἱ οὖν Ἰουδαῖοι, ἐπεὶ παρασκευὴ ἦν, (5713) ἵνα μὴ μείνῃ (5661) ἐπὶ τοῦ σταυροῦ τὰ σώματα ἐν τῷ σαββάτῳ, ἦν (5713) γὰρ μεγάλη ἡ ἡμέρα ἐκείνου τοῦ σαββάτου, ἠρώτησαν (5656) τὸν Πιλᾶτον ἵνα κατεαγῶσιν (5652) αὐτῶν τὰ σκέλη καὶ ἀρθῶσιν. (5686)
